Check out our article on overlooked cleaning spots in your home.

One thing that
stays the same, no matter where you find yourself in the world, is the need to
clean your living area. Your house will always need to have some kind of light
cleaning done from time to time. Depending on your decorating style cleaning
can be a big ordeal that creates stress when you think about picking up the
duster. You can see the dust gather in some areas more than in others. This
will lead you to clean the usual spots and forget to take care of some other
places. If you forget about the little places they turn soon become larger
problems. Your apartment will have a few extra nooks and crannies that you may
discover when you you’re your surroundings a closer look. We will look at a few
places that you might forget to check when doing your usual cleaning rituals.

Vacuum Cleaner

When thinking of
cleaning your home you may not have this one pop into your mind first. Your
vacuum cleaner will be your main tool when cleaning hardwood floors or carpets.
Using your vacuum regularly will cause it to fill quickly with all of the dirt
and dust that falls in your room. It’s easy to forget that it too needs to be
dusted and cleaned now and then. The dust and dirt in the filters will build up
quickly creating a clog that can damage your vacuum. Make sure to take out the
filters regularly and get all of the dirt out of them. Some filters can be
washed and others will need to be cleaned by hand with a mild cleaning
solution. Make sure to keep all of your cleaning instruments kept up and in
good condition to ensure you can clean your home with no problems.

Air Conditioner

The air
conditioner is an absolute magnet for all the dirt and dust particles that
enter your home. Dust becomes trapped in the filter and if you use the air
conditioner heavily during the summer months it will quickly become caked with
dust. Filters should be cleaned at the least once a month and changed every
three months. The filter can be cleaned by simply running water over the it to
remove the dust as best as you can. The other areas you may not think about are
the spots near the sides and the back of the unit. The inside of the casing
that lines the filter will need a quick polish as well. There are many small
spots all over the machine so look around it to get any excess dust off of it.

Refrigerator

Your refrigerator
is constantly running and begins to be a gathering spot for extra dust and
dirt. The fridge will be a victim of extra food particles and pieces of trash
that will fall and float around the kitchen. You will need to clean the area in
front because it is easily visible when you walk in the room, but it is the
area behind the fridge is the most congested. You will need to clean the sides
to alleviate the largest amount of dust. This doesn’t get cleaned enough
because it requires you to pull out and move the large machine, but it is
necessary to give yourself the cleanest apartment possible. This is another
scheduled cleaning and should be done at least once a week to keep your space
clean.

Electronics

Thanks to a few reasons, all electronics are dust magnets. They consume a lot of power while they are one and they need to be cooled. This requires them to have fans that suck in large amounts of air and in doing so the insides get extremely dusty. This will cause your products to slow down, overheat, or just stop working completely.

The best thing to do is to open the machines and blow them out with canned air. This will be a scary thing to do as you will be afraid of damaging your electronics, but if you want to keep them working for a long time you will need to do this. The grates near the vent ports will need to be cleaned regularly and cleaning the area around the items will need to be kept up a well. Most of the dust that gathers in the machines will come from the immediate area around it so try to keep it clean as well.

Shelves and Drawers

Shelves and
drawers can become covered with dust quickly since they stand tall in your room
and catch any dust before it can settle on the floor. The tops as well as the
area behind will become covered with dirt and dust. The parts that will be
forgotten are the inside of the drawers. They won’t become dirty at first, but
if you look at them over time you will see a small build-up begin to happen and
the dust will form together in the corners. Your clothes will begin to have
dust on them without you having worn them. You just need to do light dusting
without them inside, and it is easy to do, but just as easy to let it build up.
Try to remember to wipe them at least once a month.

Toilet Room

The toilet room
is another area that has obvious spots that need cleaning. A few spots will
escape your immediate view such as the area underneath the toilet bowl and the
sides. These spots will become dirty & dusty quickly. They are easily
forgotten since your focus will most likely stay on the bowl. These spots will
surprise you as they get runoff from the bowl that mixes with dust and becomes
a dark caked mess. Be thorough when you do your normal cleaning of the room and
the toilet. The back of the toilet will be dusty, but it shouldn’t be a large
problem to clean.

Closets and Cabinets

The areas inside
and outside of your closets and cabinets can be tricky to keep completely clean.
The insides of both places tend to accumulate a large amount of stuff that will
also get covered in dust. It can slowly become a huge problem that can seem
like an impossible task to finish. You should make sure to do some light
dusting and wipe down the spots inside the shelves. Your clothes should be
removed a few times from your closets and the insides of them wiped down. If
you do some light cleaning every few weeks you will not run into this problem.

These places are
all small easily overlooked areas that can be a problem if left unattended for
too long.
